Group Affiliation and Your Identity

Some people find solace in religion.  Some people find comfort in fanaticism.  Few people take the time to truly understand the groups they belong to.
I have a hard time finding salvation in any organized groups.  Many groups today either have too much history and then others simply not enough.  I don't identify myself with many groups because I believe that people in groups are generally corrupted by the worst elements among them.  It is my feeling that if I belong then I become responsible for the actions of that group.
I have neither the time nor the energy for all of that nonsense.

Do you identify yourself with a particular group?  If so, how do you understand your relationship to that group?  If you do not identify yourself with a group, why not?
