Reading is fundamental!

This story is a bit old (Dec 17th 2008) but nevertheless relevant.

There are children running around in the United States of America with the names: Joycelynn Aryan Nation Campbell, Honszlynn Hinler Jeannie Campbell and Adolf Hitler Campbell.

Say what you want about black people's names in America, but they've got some sense of rhythm.  A simple
 sense of cadence, even.

'Joycelynn Aryan Nation Campbell' does not roll off the tongue easily.  At the very least, though, the girls can hope to improve on their last names through marriage.  Little Adolf won't get off so easily.  Little Adolf may be ridiculed (in mass media) and adored (in small circles as a poster boy for America.)

Much like Elian Gonzalez was to America in his day, so to may Little Adolf be one day.  Although, I'm more perplexed by trying to establish a connection between Elian and America than I am by trying to understand how Little Adolf could capture hearts and minds in the U.S.

I don't see it happening any time soon, so I think Little Adolf will be subjected to much abuse.  It's not his fault either.  His parents are the ones who named the body he was thrown into.

Little Adolf may love Jews more than anyone.

Who knows?

Little Adolf may have a bris one day!

Mom and dad may object but such is life.  Little Adolf will be tormented in the short term I'm sure.  Everyone with a bad name gets some degree of rejection from peers, but 'Adolf Hitler?'  That one may almost be too easy.  The kid might escape out of sympathy.

People may just feel bad for the kid and that would be the appropriate reaction.

His parents named him.  Their the ones with bad taste while also lacking subtlety.  I don't criticize them for their political symbolism, but rather on the grounds of lacking empathy for their child and their poorly executed originality.

In the grand scheme of things, Adolf may have made it out of his family with the better name though.  At least his name was spelled correctly.  Poor Honszlynn Hinler Jeannie Campbell will have to explain the rest of her life why 'Hinler' wasn't spelled 'Himmler.'

Reading is fundamental!
